20 Best Small Camper Trailers with Bathrooms: 2024 Models

Finding small camper trailers with bathrooms can be a bit challenging. Less space means some things have to go, and more often than not, it’s the bathroom.

You might be surprised to know that the very first campers were created with bathrooms way back in 1910. The first motorhome, made from a 3-ton Packard truck, was 28 feet long and 6.5 feet wide and could sleep 11. It also boasted an ice box, a toilet, and a “salon,” making it the very first motorhome.

I’m sure camper bathrooms have come a long way since that first one was built. Nowadays, it’s easy to find larger trailers with luxurious bathrooms but many smaller campers don’t have any bathroom amenities.

In fact, the smaller they are, the less likely they are to have a toilet and even less likely a shower. However, small camper trailers with bathrooms are out there and worth looking at if you are in the market for a smaller camper.

Read on to check out these 20 best small camper trailers with bathrooms.

Do You Really Need a Bathroom in A Small Camper Trailer?

Speaking from experience, there is nothing better than having your own bathroom in your travel trailer. You don’t have to get dressed, put on your shoes, grab your flashlight, and wake everyone else up just to answer the call of nature. If your dog must answer the call, you are out of luck.

Even with small camper trailers with bathrooms, you still don’t have to use the campground facilities which are likely not very convenient and could be sort of gross. I haven’t been to too many places that had well-maintained bathrooms and showers.

Some might be clean, but they are also very old and worn. Of course, shower shoes are a must and I’ve even been to some that lacked even a place to hang your clothes and towel.

If you like to boondock, small camper trailers with bathrooms make going off-grid fun and easy.

Check out our video below featuring Campers under 20′ with bathrooms!

Wet Bath VS Dry Bath

Wet baths are just how they sound. These common small camper bathrooms have a toilet and a sink in the same space and don’t have a dedicated shower space.

You will also find a hose/showerhead that you can use sitting down or standing up. They are usually found in very small travel trailers such as teardrops, camper vans, and pickup campers.

The question comes up regarding how you keep your toilet paper dry in a wet bath. There are watertight dispensers available, or you can just leave the TP outside when you take a shower.

Dry baths are your traditional RV bathrooms with a shower separated from the other bathroom area.

How Much Do Small Camper Trailers with Bathrooms Cost?

You can find small camper trailers with bathrooms starting at around $20,000 MSRP. You would think that models with wet baths should be cheaper than ones with a full bathroom but that is not always the case.

For example, the Riverside Retro 135 and KZ Sportsmen Classic have a fully separate shower and are priced at around $20,000.

The Scamp 13 comes in around $20,000, with a wet bath, as well as The Little Guy Mini Max, which is priced at around $25,000.

The most expensive model on our list, the Airstream Basecamp REI, is priced around $53,000 and has a wet bath.

Dry bath models include the Jayco Jay Feather 166FBS, priced at around $37,000, and also the Wildwood FSX, right around $21,000.

What is the Smallest Camper Trailer with a Bathroom?

At just 13 feet long, the Scamp 13 is the smallest trailer on the list with a bathroom. It has a wet bath but it’s still a bathroom and in a 13′ trailer, that’s pretty impressive!

Small Camper Trailer Bathroom vs Portable Toilet

There are other choices to consider when you are looking for a trailer. If you don’t have a bathroom you can also consider the option of a portable toilet.

Portable toilets can include a cassette toilet in which the waste is dumped into a 5-gallon cassette, which is then emptied at a dump station.

A cassette toilet will usually hold about 50 small flushes and generally needs to be dumped every few days. The waste and chemicals do smell when dumped.

Composting toilets are also portable and do require some maintenance. These usually require a power source, as well. The waste is treated with a biological process, which leads to the decomposition of organic matter and turns the waste into a compost-like material.

Composting is carried out by microorganisms under controlled aerobic conditions. If the toilet is maintained, this option should not smell. However, it needs to be emptied about once a month, of course, depending on how often they are used.

These are options for a trailer without a bathroom, but you won’t have a shower or sink.
